The Styx Agent Methodology

چکیده
Agent-oriented software engineering is a promising new approach to software engineering that uses the notion of an agent as the primary entity of abstraction. The development of methodologies for agentoriented software engineering is an area that is currently receiving much attention, there have been several agent-oriented methodologies proposed recently and survey papers are starting to appear. However the authors feel that there is still much work necessary in this area; current methodologies can be improved upon. This paper presents a new methodology, the Styx Agent Methodology, which guides the development of collaborative agent systems from the analysis phase through to system implementation and maintenance. A distinguishing feature of Styx is that it covers a wider range of software development life-cycle activities than do other recently proposed agent-oriented methodologies. The key areas covered by this methodology are the specification of communication concepts, inter-agent communication and each agent’s behaviour activation—but it does not address the development of application-specific parts of a system. It will be supported by a software tool which is currently in development.

Pseudophosphatase STYX modulates cell-fate decisions and cell migration by spatiotemporal regulation of ERK1/2.
Serine/threonine/tyrosine-interacting protein (STYX) is a catalytically inactive member of the dual-specificity phosphatases (DUSPs) family. Whereas the role of DUSPs in cellular signaling is well explored, the function of STYX is still unknown. Here, we identify STYX as a spatial regulator of ERK signaling. We used predictive-model simulation to test several hypotheses for possible modes of ST...
متن کاملThe Pseudophosphatase MK-STYX Induces Neurite-Like Outgrowths in PC12 Cells
The rat pheochromocytoma PC12 cell line is a widely used system to study neuronal differentiation for which sustained activation of the extracellular signaling related kinase (ERK) pathway is required. Here, we investigate the function of MK-STYX [MAPK (mitogen-activated protein kinase) phosphoserine/threonine/tyrosine-binding protein] in neuronal differentiation. MK-STYX is a member of the MAP...
متن کاملMK-STYX Alters the Morphology of Primary Neurons, and Outgrowths in MK-STYX Overexpressing PC-12 Cells Develop a Neuronal Phenotype
We previously reported that the pseudophosphatase MK-STYX (mitogen activated kinase phosphoserine/threonine/tyrosine binding protein) dramatically increases the number of what appeared to be primary neurites in rat pheochromocytoma (PC-12) cells; however, the question remained whether these MK-STYX-induced outgrowths were bona fide neurites, and formed synapses. Here, we report that microtubule...
متن کاملThe Pseudophosphatase MK-STYX Physically and Genetically Interacts with the Mitochondrial Phosphatase PTPMT1
We previously performed an RNA interference (RNAi) screen and found that the knockdown of the catalytically inactive phosphatase, MK-STYX [MAPK (mitogen-activated protein kinase) phospho-serine/threonine/tyrosine-binding protein], resulted in potent chemoresistance. Our follow-up studies demonstrated that knockdown of MK-STYX prevents cells from undergoing apoptosis through a block in cytochrom...
متن کاملThe Styx Ip-core for Ubiquitous Network Device Interoperability
ASBTRACT Application level interoperability between ubiquitous networked communication devices (e.g. Mobile phones, PDA, CCD camera, etc.) poses many problems. In this paper we consider the issue of efficient application level access to resources on remote devices whilst achieving both network and distribution transparency. Provision of such transparency is difficult as lowresource devices are ...
